Spring has arrived... The hedges are flowering so beautifully. While I was out walking in the rain a few days ago, the magnolias, the orange clivias and the flowering crabapple trees didn't fail to stop me in my tracks. I simply had to take photos because they looked even more stunning in the rain. I always look forward to going for long walks in the morning when the air is crisp and fresh especially after the night's rain.
It's Monday today... Happy Monday! ... I was out doing a few laps around the oval early morning. I watched a couple of airliners fly over the nearby houses and 4 women doing boxing exercises across the oval. The sky was clear and the sun was out.... I didn’t see the family of kookaburras in the same spot where I would normally find them around the same time but I walked past several magpies and a couple of lapwings. I could hear the sound of the lorikeets and myna birds coming from the nearby trees.... A typical morning sights and sounds at the oval, indeed!
Apparently, it was a new moon at 4 am today. Some people say the new moon signals a new beginning and that it’s the best time to start something new - a creative project, new job, new relationship, etc. As for me, I didn’t know what I would like to start doing today but I was out sitting on a park bench (where I'd usually rest for half an hour or so after clocking 5 to 6 km. walk) when it occurred to me that I could, at least, start composing this post. The idea of adding a blog page to this site came about this morning while chatting with my darling husband as we sipped our first coffee of the day. So there I was, typing away with much gusto when 2 cockatoos suddenly emerged from nowhere. I sometimes wonder why a cockatoo would raise its crest but I found this photo of one of them (see photo) quite endearing. The way it raises its crest and how its round eyes appeared to be fixed on me, reminded me of Joey's (Matt Leblanc's character in "Friends") famous pickup line, "How you doin'?"... Adorable!... At this point, I had to stop typing on my phone when I heard the arrival of a group of women. They were about to start working out with their personal trainer across the park from where I was sitting. What better way to add some vibrant and positive energy into what I was doing!
At midday, we decided to have a picnic lunch at the park which was just down the road from where we live. It was another Thai Green Curry kind of day which was a good choice, I guess, on a lovely and cool spring day.
Back home, my son enjoyed his "cake in a mug" (see photo), which his Dad made for him. Making it was easy-peasy! No baking required! Just 1 min. in the microwave oven and 5 mins. to cool down... voila! ... Done! It's a healthier option for the family instead of purchasing our favourite muffins from the cafes. His Dad found a recipe on the internet but improved it by replacing most of the ingredients (flour, chocolates, milk, etc.) with organic products. It was also a fun activity for my son, who was happy to participate in preparing it.
By and large, today has been an extraordinary day... I feel so grateful, really. And oh, by the way, we're very excited, too because tomorrow, we are driving up to the mountains where we are staying for a few days...
Till next time.... Lots of 💖!!!
